After painting the Funeral Procession, I felt that a burial scene was needed. This time the painting was done with no pre-existing photographs, but rather simple pencil sketches. I decided the sky and the colors should work together with a certain rhythm -- when this painting and the third painting are placed alongside the first, a definite flow emerges. The figure in black (fourth from the left) became the subject of the final painting.
